Frequently asked questions
LEVEL UP - EXPEDITE is a comprehensive advanced training course that takes pilots from their PPL and ATPL theory through to a frozen ATPL (Commercial Pilot’s Licence with Multi-Engine Instrument Rating), plus APS MCC jet simulator training and Airline Assessment Preparation. It’s designed for modular pilots who have already built their PPL foundation and need the advanced training to become airline-ready.
Integrated courses start from zero flying experience and typically costs up to £130,000+ upfront. EXPEDITE is for pilots who already hold a PPL and have passed their ATPL theory. The qualifications at the end are identical - the same 'frozen' ATPL.
You’ll need a PPL(A), ATPL(A) exams passed inc. KSA 100, a Night Rating, your CPL 300-mile qualifying cross-country completed, 100 hours as Pilot-in-Command, and 160 hours total time. We’ll check your logbook, review your exam results, and assess you in the simulator before you start.
Because we care about your success, airline requirements, and our reputation for quality. We’d rather have an honest conversation about your readiness than take your money and leave you struggling halfway through. When we recommend a pilot to an airline, our name is attached - and we take that seriously.
£65,000 inc. VAT - and it's genuinely all-inclusive. You pay a £1,000 deposit at pre-enrolment, then fair staged payments as you progress, so you're never paying far ahead of the training you've received. The fee covers all landing and approach fees, all initial UK CAA skills-test fees, Competency Assurance, Airline Assessment Preparation, and VAT. No hidden extras.
Competency Assurance is our promise, included as standard with EXPEDITE, that you won't be left out of pocket if you need a little more training to reach the required standard. It's built on CBTA - the ICAO, airline-oriented approach that trains and assesses you against the 10 core pilot competencies airlines actually recruit on.
In practice it means: if you need additional MEP aircraft or simulator training to reach Skills Test standard - or need to re-fly all or part of a Skills Test — we provide it free of charge. On the multi-crew side, any additional APS MCC training needed to reach the Assessment of Competence, plus simulator preparation for a confirmed airline assessment (including a repeat session for a further assessment), are also free of charge. As an example, a repeat Skills Test might involve around 2 hours of training and 2 hours of testing - roughly £3,000 of value, funded by Competency Assurance rather than by you.
The only thing it doesn't cover is the UK CAA's repeat examiner and test fees, which are set by the CAA. Everything else is on us - complete peace of mind that you'll finish genuinely airline-ready, without unexpected extra costs.
No. We deliberately structure our payment plan so you’re never more than one installment ahead of your training. The deposit is £1,000. We believe that if you’re asking someone to invest in their future, they deserve transparency about what it costs and when they pay.
Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training. It teaches you to recognise, prevent, and recover from unusual aircraft attitudes. It’s a UK CAA requirement and is completed in our Super Decathlon aerobatic aircraft. You will also get some aerobatics and tailwheel experience; invaluable flying skill-building.
Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation. It’s a course that teaches you to operate as part of a two-pilot crew on a jet flight deck. Most airlines require APS MCC before they’ll offer you a type rating course. EXPEDITE includes 40-hours of APS MCC training on either our A320 or B737 jet simulator.
You’ll hold a 'frozen' ATPL. The next step is you securing an airline assessment offer. Once that occurs, OAT provides Airline Assessment Preparation support as part of EXPEDITE - interview skills and simulator assessment practice tailored to the specific airline. Our commitment is to support you to the commencement of you type rating training.
Yes. Your APS MCC training takes place on either our Airbus A320 FTD1 or Boeing 737NG FTD1. You can discuss your preference with us based upon which aircraft type you’re targeting for your airline career.
